Golf Injury Rehabilitation & Performance Enhancement

Located in the Old Bridge/Matawan office is The Coach®. This golf fitness and training system is used throughout the world by both professional and amateur golfers. Now a program has been developed for its use in treating injured golfers and those that just want to enhance their performance in a rehabilitation setting.

David Bertone, PT, has undergone extensive training in the Back to Golf® method of golf performance enhancement and injury prevention. If you have an injured low back and you want to learn how to play with less or no pain, this program is for you. It is also for the golfer that wants to prevent injury or improve their game. Quite often a golfer will have no problem buying an expensive golf club or new golf ball in an attempt to improve their game. These changes rarely make a difference. The best way is to go through an extensive evaluation by a specially trained physical therapist to locate and correct biomechanical faults and team with a local PGA golf professional to learn how to translate their “fit body” into an effective golf swing.

The program consists of the following components:

  1. Musculoskeletal evaluation to examine muscle strength, flexibility, joint restrictions and postural faults.
  2. Analyze your golf swing in a ball striking area.
  3. Design a comprehensive treatment program to make corrections that are effecting the golf swing. This may consist of stretching, strengtheniong, joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, muscle re-education, and aerobic conditioning.
  4. Referral to a PGA professional at completion of the program.
  5. Development of a pre-golf warm up program and off season conditioning program.
